Know Your Soil
Soil Testing & Health Card
Knowing the Soil is where it all starts - the nutrient content and chemical composition of the soil defines how fertile the soil is and what level of plant life it can support and sustain on a consistent basis. We help our farmers get the soil test done at our associated testing labs or bring in their existing soil health cards. Soil composition data points provide foundations for selecting the right kind of Agri Input (seed/fertilizer) and to generate advanced analytics e.g. yield predictions and Personalized Advisory.

๐งช Steps Involved in Soil Testing
Soil testing is the foundation of good farming. It helps understand soil health, nutrient levels, and guides the right use of fertilizers. Here's how the process works:
โ 1. Soil Sample Collection
Select multiple spots from the field (zig-zag pattern is best).
Remove the top 2โ3 cm soil and collect sample from 6โ8 inches deep.
Mix all sub-samples together and take around 500g as the final sample.
Use clean tools and dry plastic bags for storage.
Label with field name, crop history, and date.
๐ฌ 2. Submission to Soil Testing Lab
Submit the sample to an authorized NASP Gaon Centre.
Fill in the farmer detail form (name, location, previous crop, irrigation, etc.).
Choose test type: Basic, Micronutrients, Organic Carbon, pH, etc.

๐งซ 3. Laboratory Analysis
Lab analyzes soil for:
pH level (acidic or alkaline?)
Electrical Conductivity (salinity)
Organic Carbon (%)
Macronutrients: Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P), Potassium (K)
Micronutrients: Zinc, Iron, Manganese, Copper
Sulphur and Lime Requirement (if acidic)

๐ 4. Soil Health Report Generation
A detailed Soil Health Card or lab report is prepared.
It shows:
Nutrient status (Low / Medium / High)
Soil fertility level
Fertilizer recommendation (crop-wise)

๐ฟ 5. Farmer Consultation & Guidance
Report is explained to the farmer by agri-experts.
Customized fertilizer application plan is created.
Organic amendments and pH balance solutions are suggested if needed.

๐ 6. Implementation in the Field
Farmer applies fertilizers as per recommendation.
Practices sustainable soil management: crop rotation, composting, green manure.

๐ฏ Why Soil Testing Matters?
Saves cost on fertilizers
Increases yield & soil fertility
Prevents soil degradation
Supports organic farming
